Where To Fish

Where on the Water: Best Places to Fish

When you first begin fishing you will learn a lot about how to cast, bait a hook, etc. But at the same time, you should also attempt to become more knowledgeable on things such as where to fish. While you may be able to find a lake in your area, do you know what part of the water will give you the best chance of success? Obviously, you will want to do everything you can to set yourself up to succeed. Even professionals who fish in big tournaments do their homework so that they know where the hot spots are.

Fishing from a Boat

If you are fishing from a boat, you are going to have access to the entire body of water. As long as you are not worried about driving a bit, you should be able to go where you please. But even then, you need to know the best areas. A lot of the area you fish will be dictated by other factors such as the weather, time of year, etc. Of course, the fish that you want to catch will also dictate your positioning. Bass fisherman will spend a lot of their time casting towards the shore. But on the other hand, if you are fishing for cat fish you may want to spend most your time in the deep parts of the lake.

Fishing from the Shore

When fishing from the shore, the areas of the water that you can access will be limited. After all, you can only stand on shoreline that is clear. With that being said, most bodies of water have plenty of shore for you to choose from. If possible, scout out all your available options before setting up shop. This will allow you to at least position yourself in an area that offers a high chance of success.

Many fishermen think that one place on the water is as good as the next. On the surface this may seem like a true statement. But as mentioned above, there are many reasons to consider the exact location that you are fishing.
