Generally speaking, fishing can be done in one of two ways. You can either cast your line from the shore, or you can use a boat in order to venture out in the water. As you can imagine, both of these options have pros and cons. You should consider both ways of fishing, and then decide which one will benefit you the most.
The biggest benefit of fishing from the shore is that it does not take a lot of prep time. In other words, you do not have to tow a boat to the water, gas it up, and carry a lot of gear. Instead, you can take nothing more than your pole and some lures and get started. This is much easier for some people than dealing with a boat, and all of the extras that come along with it.

The only downfall of fishing from the shore is that you will not have access to a large area. You may be able to walk the shoreline, but even then you will be limited on where you can cast your line.
When you fish from a boat you will be able to get at any area of the water that looks good. In other words, you are not stuck in one place much like the way you would be if fishing from the shore. No matter where you want to go on the water, if you have a boat you can usually get there.
On the other side of things, it can cost a lot of money to fish from a boat. Not only do you need to buy a boat, but then you must get everything that goes along with it as well. This includes a motor, gas, life vests, and other safety equipment.
No matter what, it is safe to say that you will have fun fishing from either the shore or a boat.
