Where To Fish

Lures and Live Bait for Beginners

There is a lot to learn as a beginning fisherman, but no details more important than the lures and live bait that you can use. After all, you can be the best caster in the world, but if you do not have anything attached to the end of your line, you have no chance of catching any fish. When it comes down to it, there are pros and cons of using lures and live bait. You will have to decide which one you are most comfortable with, as well as which situations each one would work best in.

Lures

The nice thing about using artificial lures is that they will never go bad. Sure, you may need to replace a lure from time to time, but you should get your use out of it. This is in contrast to live bait that only stays good for a certain period of time.

Additionally, fishing with lures is usually perceived as more fun because you will constantly be on the go. In other words, you will cast your lure and then start to work it back to the boat. When you are fishing with live bait, you will leave your line in the water for several minutes until you decide to make a change.

Live Bait

With live bait, you do not have to do much; and this is why many beginners love it. When you are fishing with lures you need to learn when to use them, as well as how to reel them in. Believe it or not, there are many different techniques for this. But with live bait, all you have to do is cast your line and let the fish show up.

One drawback of live bait is that you will have to get your hands dirty. Some people do not mind baiting a worm, crawfish, or minnow, but for others it is a bit too much. Luckily, once you fish with live bait a few times you will get used to this way of doing things.

Overall, there are pros and cons of both artificial lures and live bait. Test out each option, and hopefully you will find that you can use both on your future fishing trips.
