There are many main items that you need if you are going to take up fishing. But along with the most important items, there are many smaller ones that you will also want to have access to. This way you can give yourself the best chance of catching fish the first day that you hit the water. After all, even fishing can get boring if you never reel anything in.
One of the most important miscellaneous items to consider is a fishing net. Do you need one of these? Definitely not. But having a net can make your job much easier when you begin to hook fish. This is especially true if you are fishing from a boat. With a net you will have the ability to extend further to capture the fish, and more easily handle larger specimens. Being that a fishing net only costs a few bucks, you should definitely purchase one to keep with your tackle box.

Even though fishing is a relatively safe hobby, you never know what is going to happen. If you are going to be fishing from a boat, you need several safety items. They include everything from life jackets to a flashlight to a whistle. Believe it or not, many of these items are required. If you get caught without them, there is a good chance that you will receive a fine. For the most part, you can cut back on these safety items if you are fishing from the shore. Of course, younger children should always wear a life jacket when they are close to the water; even if they are on the shore with you. Even with fishing it is better to be safe than sorry.
If you visit the fishing department of a large sporting goods store, you should be able to find all the miscellaneous items that you will ever need. In fact, you will probably come across some great items that you did not even know existed.
